This book deals with the greatest forwth spurt in The Salvation Army's history during its earliest days. It is our hope that it will pricide inspiration for the further advancement in today's more complex, diverse society.
In June 2007, The Salvation Army in America launched a battle plan for growth in soldiership throughout the nation called "Come Join Our Army." The National Commander, Commissioner Israel L. Gaither, in his call to action encouraged all Salvation Army soldiers to be "intentional in winning others into the Kingdom of God, and then discipling them into soldiership in The Salvation Army."
The goal of the campaign is to have 125,000 soldiers by the year 2010. At the start of the campaign there were 83,798 senior soldiers (14 years or older) and 26,333 junior soldiers (7 to 14 years of age) for a combined national total of 110,131.
All current soldiers are urged to do their part to help win people for Jesuss with as much vigor and enthusiasm as they can muster. The stories and events related in this book by Dr Moyles, all to the Glory of God, are real accounts of how people worked to bring the Gospel message in the past. God gives us the gift of this moment, which is called "the present," to use in helping to influence and encourage others as we work together for the future growth of our Army.
The invitation is clear - with the joy of the Lord in our hearts, and with vibrant prayer, we go forth to urge as many as will to "Come Join Our Army!" Major Ed Forster Editor in Chief and National Literary Secretary
