The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a respected and honourable charter and The Salvation Army applauds those who toiled over its words, aims and purpose. We are all the better for having it.
However; it is-or should be-a living document. To confine such important words to a library shelf or academic papers would be to great loss. The rights should be known, understood, lived out, promoted and supported internationally.
My hope is that not only Salvationists but many others will be challenged and inspired to reconsider their own commitment to human rights as they read Freedom Unleashed. Let us hear the call and seize afresh the opportunity to learn to do right and to seek justice.
