Product Overview
A successful teacher and high school administrator, Van der Ventor struggled with the tension between seeking a career and being a member of an evangelistic team. It was while conducting music during a church service in 1896 that the tension found its release when he committed his life to becoming a full-time evangelist. The words of this song were penned sometime after that event.
The setting presented here is quite simple in form and structure and will be easily rehearsed. The unison singing provides opportunity to work on balance and blend but can also allow soloists to be utilised.
Be careful with the pitch of the major seventh in the tenor part at 18 and in the repetitions of the chorus. The male voice sound at 25 should be light and well placed in the head; don’t allow the sound to be dark and chesty.
