One thing about the early Salvationists that has always impressed me is the bold, daring with which they approached the task that was, and remains, the mission of The Salvation Army. The words of this song reflect some of the enthusiasm which infused the early work of The Army:
We’ll shout aloud throughout the land
The praises of our God,
We’ll fight beneath our flag unfurled,
Kept by his precious blood.
So we’ll lift up the banner on high,
The salvation banner of love;
We’ll fight beneath it’s colours till we die,
Then go to our home above.
This short arrangement has much to keep the players on their toes and will be worth the effort of paying attention to the details.
