In the Salvation Army we tend to hear the voices and viewpoints of the dominant culture of evangelism, social ministry and social justice. But there are other voices that need to be heard if we are to fully understand ourselves and our mission.
Other Voices brings readers voices from the past (and present) that present complementary truths, primarily about the need for depth in our spirituality. It also shows how The Salvation Army has always seen itself in the boarder tradition of the Church and teachings of the mystics and saints to encourage Salvationists in their spiritual journey.
The contemplative tradition may be a hidden stream in The Salvation Army, but it is an essential one if we are to live out the calling of Jesus to follow him.
