Paul Armstrong Arranged Ralph Jones
This relatively new tune (1984) has been sensibly arranged by Bandmaster
Ralph Jones of Noarlunga Corps for the Noel Jones Series.
The melody is carefully passed around the band with almost every section of the
ensemble having an opportunity to present part of the melodic material.
The opening phrase, from the Daniel Iverson melody, is immediately
recognisable and establishes a gentle mood for the first treatment of the melody.
Be careful not to over-do the poco accel at bar 21 the resulting 88 should
allow the music to be presented as a gentle ballad with the kit providing suitable
support for the band. The ending, while marked forte, needs to be presented in
context, bringing the piece to a confident, affirming conclusion.
