This new piece introduces a new writer to our publications; Don Mayne hails from Mildura Corps in Victoria and is perhaps best known for his trumpet playing in the Salvo Big Band.
The following notes from Don give some further background and thoughts about the music:
“Risen” is based on the triumphant words of “Christ the Lord has Risen Today” and tune Easter Hymn. Although quite the Easter theme, I find this hymn a daily reminder of the living saviour that gave up his life so that we could live a life in eternity with our Lord. Be it in the words all creatures rejoice in Christ’s resurrection, the work of redemption is compete, death is vanquished, or in the promise that we have new life in Christ now, we praise the victorious Christ every day and not just at Easter.
The overall intention of this piece is to proclaim the message of the energetic presence of Jesus in our lives that propel us towards an intimate relationship with Jesus.
