Major JoAnn Shade has served as a Salvation Army officer in the USA since 1978 and currently ministers with her husband Larry as a corps officer (Salvation Army church pastor) in Ashland, Ohio. She is a trained counsellor and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary, her doctoral thesis being on Women in Prophetic Leadership. The mother of three sons, she is an accomplished pianist and composer and is the author of Heartwork of Hope: a Directed Journal (Others Press)
